Our Story

Birth and Evolution of the Idea

In early 2018, a group of like minded friends from London School of Economics came together to try and find solutions for improving the lives of homeless individuals living in the cold streets of London. This idea gave rise to the inception of Leiter in 2019.

The early phase involved numerous sitting down sessions with those severely affected, and the founding team recognised the need for coming out with a program that addresses the missing link, at the same time stay relevant to the focussed group. Through these interactions the team aimed at strengthening the mental well being of participants. The training was for 3 hours per session spanning over a period of 8 weeks.

The programs were interactive workshop with selected participants and topics covered were :

  • Introduction to mental health
  • Coping strategies for handling stress and anxiety
  • Working with self-help groups
  • Nutrition and physical well-being
  • Mindfulness in our daily lives

With the onset of pandemic in early 2020, the team decided to offer all their programs on an online platform. In addition the focus shifted to a more direct approach of increasing the job opportunities for the large population of low skilled workers.
